A simple cost-effective way to get rid of that cheap wobbly and noisy loose trigger in some of the less expensive muzzle loading reproductions. Remove trigger guard and trigger plate. Remove tiny screw holding trigger retainer. Slightly squeeze trigger retainer together, not too much as you do not want any drag, just a barely perceptible amount. Re assemble trigger to plate. That takes care of the side-to-side play. Next, find a weak...maybe 1-3 oz force to compress when installed... compression spring 1/4 diameter. Drill a shallow 1/4 hole in location shown. Most of these reproductions have plenty of room in this location. Cut off the spring if it is too long. Have it about 1/4 higher than the sear arm as shown. Put a couple drops of slow setting epoxy in the shallow drilled hole, enough to encase the bottom coil or so of the spring. Have the spring standing straight up until epoxy cures. Re assembled. No more loose trigger.
