Heading to the farm in the morning, I will post my results. Smoothie 40 cal (purchased from another member here) and will try some 7 1/2 bird shot fairly close range. Should be fun, and interesting!

I use my range finder for distance measuring.

Holster in cross draw fashion.

The gun is a Mendi, the holster is for a micro semi auto but works ok!

Here's how it did, was even able to get some holes in the cardboard game at 10 yards!

Aw heck, try it. 'Been shootin' squirrels nearly 70 years. Honestly, #6 shot is the smallest I use and like #4's better due to their tough hide (unlike rabbits). Here, we have Fox Squirrels and Grey Squirrels. Some Fox squirrels get really large but Greys are more plentiful.

I, for one, am anxious to see how this works out for you. 20 yards seems pretty iffy, but ..hey, don't know if you don't try. Have Fun.

Giver a shot, you never know until you try! Keep in mind, a 30 gr load of #4 shot is only about 9 pellets, give or take...

Load shot by volume, not by weight. Use your volume measurer - same volume for both. Problem with the short barrel will be penetration. Longer barrel (like a rifle/shotgun) will use up potential energy. Short barrel will simply force unburned powder out the muzzle - some may even be unburned. More smoke, less power.

Actually John, after I posted, I think you might have me confused with another thread here recently about using a smooth bore pistol to hunt squirrels. My response to that thread was...

I am not in disagreement with what you are saying!
