The trick with using long bullets in percussion revolvers is always getting the right diameters and seating the bullet without misalignment. I'm threatening to try a cylinder machined into a round ball mold just to see how it works in the .31. More likely though to spend money on a rifle barrel to shoot .323 ball.

Not a Minie, but a conical .31 Baby Dragoon bullet. Quite common, back in the day.
