I have recently acquired a small cannon bore is around the .40 cal range. the barrel is 7 1/2" min length. Due to it's small size the touch hole accepts fire cracker fuse. Cannon fuse is way to big. I am slowly running out of the fire cracker fuze where do I get more?

Dixie gun works used to carry it, i would try them.
You can also use slowmatch and loose powder to fire your gun.

I'm wondering if Poor Private was referring to the thin paper fuses used on small firecrackers, not the approx. 1/8" diameter variety we used to call "cherry bomb fuse", and which I've seen used many times to fire larger cannons. The touch hole on his .40-caliber cannon would most likely accept the paper fuses.

Just guessin' on my part. :idunno:

Hmmmm, I don't have any miniature cannons. Generally, for fuse, I go to Cannonfuse.com

The thinnest I can find there is 1.8mm, but they are sold out.

I did find this slender fuse. It measues 1.4mm, about a 1/16" in diameter.

I couldn't find anyone who offered paper fuse smaller than 4mm.

Another thought if you cant find fuse that is small enough. Use cigarete rolling papers and one of those cheap rolling machines, you can take 4F and roll your own, you might need to grind the 4F into a finer mix. Just a thought :hmm:

I should have also said that the touch-hole is the same size/diameter as a toothpick. I use this to clean and clear the touch-hole. And using a tape measure it looks like a tooth-pick is 1/16" or .0625"

You can make good fuse by taking finely ground 3f powder and sprinkle it on masking tape, then twisting it closed.
You can determine the diameter of your fuse by the width of the masking tape.

My brother used to make fuse by soaking paper towel in some kind of solution and then twisting it up. It made a good fuse that burned slower than your typical firecracker fuse. He was your typical teenage pyro-chemist, made his own black powder flares, rockets and explosives. Would have been investigated by the ATF nowadays.Blew a 9 foot crater in a local golf course green by putting an explosive device in the cup :shocked2: . I think that scared him enough, I don't believe he ever did anything like that again. You may want to google "homemade fuse".
