I just wanted to give a big shout-out to all of you on here in general. I have a Euroarms New Model Remington Army from about 1991 or so that I completely buggered up from playing quick draw with in my teens. It has sat unused but not unloved in a holster for three decades as I said, "One day I'm going to put a new hammer on that thing," but never did. I always thought that I didn't have the skills to do it.
I finally decided this summer to take the plunge and buy the parts. I got a new hammer from Dixie Gunworks, thinking that it was going to be a simple drop-in operation.
Of course, when I tried to drop it in, I came face to face with the reality that nothing fits Euroarms any more. I was disheartened, and just about to chalk this up to middle-aged-foolishness and a $30 lesson in knowing one's limitations.
And then I found this forum.
I looked through the posts and found enough information to understand that this job was not outside of my skillset... or my toolset.
It took some time, but I now have it fitted and timed. I have not put powder through it yet, but it now functions for the first time in decades, and I am so proud of the work I have done. I am also so thankful to the kind folks of this board for the gentle push I needed.
I am rediscovering my love for black powder that has slept for over twenty years. Thanks so much to all. I'm new to the boards, but I wont be a stranger!
