Can anyone tell me where I can find quality bark tanned deer hide? Traditional Tanners used to have it, but something happened with their supplier. My friend and I are considering doing a batch ourselves. Can you tell me how long it takes. Thanks! Any info would be much appriciated.

There was some bark-tanned hides at Dixon's Gunmaker's Fair a couple weeks ago. A buddy bought a large deer hide for $100.

Have you done a google search? braintan.com has both veg and brain tanned. as for how long that depends much on the "tea" used to tan and how much you do. I haven't done it personally, but have been looking into it heavily and the estimates I gather are a few+ months.. also check out Tandy. they have other than cow leather too

good luck
