Thanks. I like the way it came out. Was having some issues around the mouth early on but fixed them and ended up giving it an interesting look. Found that the rit dye works pretty good on wood and rawhide too. The rice worked great.

Ive seen that with stocks repaired like that. Rawhide is pretty amazing.Read somewhere once about stocks purposely being broken then gied back together and wrapepd with rawhide.Havn't used it a lot but that ball bag feels armor plated with the thickness. Going to make a new shealth for my favorite knife and maybe a pouch or 2.

Good gracious, that seems a bit extreme. Was that back in the day or done by modern guys? What would be the purpose? If you just wanted the cosmetic effect, why would you break the stock first?

Didn't make any sense to me either. Supposedly some Native Americans did it. It had to have been a misprint. Why anyone would break it then repair it is beyond me.

My Grandmother told me that many many years ago, a cherokee husband would tie a mis-behavin wife to a tree with damp rawhide and leave her for three days...if she continued to mis-behave, then they would get serious...

God Bless

Lee

p.s. No I did not have the courage to ask Granny if she had ever benn tied to a tree...
