I didn’t post this in the identification forum because it’s not an original pre 1860. I spent a bit over an hour looking online for an answer on this. No luck.
This is a half stock flintlock barrel. The first ramrod tube from the muzzle is flared out like I’ve not seen before. Military ? Very unusual to me. The barrel is 35 1/2 inches long with a 12 inch octagon section. The outside of the barrel shows use but the .54 caliber rifled bore is like new. It could be a rebore.
Any markings are VERY lightly stamped. In the one photo you can see the makers mark but I can’t make it out. I think it says pedersoli but I looked and can’t find a barrel like this on any of their guns. The breech threads are 3/4-16 so could it be Italian? The sights are a bit odd also. Any ideas?
