My '61 Navy arrived today from Track. Nice gun, nice condition. What is interesting is the difference in balance between it and my '51 square back Navies. The '51 wins hands down. The'61, taken by itself, is a fine piece, but when compared to its older brother it feels logy and heavy.
I never would have expected this. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I have no experience with the '60 or '61, but the .36 cal. '51 seems to be a lot lighter and more pointable than my Dragoon.

The '51 Navy weighs about 2lbs. 11ozs. and the Dragoons go
around 4lbs. 4ozs. I believe the '61 is supposed to weigh in
at the same heft as the '51. But there is a noticeable difference in feel, the '51 has a livlier and quicker feel.
I begin to see why Wild Bill stayed with his '51s as long as he did. For someone in his line of endeavor this would be a difference worth having.

Right on Reb, I have often thought that the '51 Navy and the 1860 were both kind of the peak of handgun development, in some ways.
