I am new to black powder . I received a possibles bag and powder horn for Christmas. Not a big deal but I made me a powder measure from a deer antler this morning. Next thing will probably be a loading block made of mesquite or pecan.

Started the new year off right. Took the little Border Terrier on another duck hunt. Santa brought her a dog blind.

It's about the same as leather which is meh. Nothing like the hardwoods I usually use.Bet it smells good!

Welcomed the New Year by unloading my .54 Traditions White Tail since the last day of Oklahoma’s antlerless season closed at sundown and I didn’t see anything as of sundown. Today it’s cleanup time.

sanded some on the cherry build trigger guard . been side tracked fixing a unmentionable a friend messed up in a fall. be glad when it is done. don't have my heart in it. nice rifle but i can't figure out where the frizzen is!

@deerstalkert It’s funny. I bought a couple of unmentionables this year. Fixed ‘em up - sighted in - ready to go. But every time I go hunting I grab a ML. As you say “my heart’s not in” the unmentionables. I’m much happier with my ml rifles/shotguns. And I kill the same amount of game.

i have an extensive collection of unmentionables. last one i shot was a 338 at a moose. still wish i had been carrying a .54 flintlock instead.

Hunted in a wet snow/rain mix all morning, cows knee did the job - dry priming powder but zero opportunities to use it…
Started the New Year off by shooting the trusty Hawken. The gun shoots so much better than I. Only two other young guys at the range today shooting very high dollar small caliber target unmentionables. Now it usually takes a hit on the head with a hammer to make me realize I'm being offended. But I'm not sure about this. They started in on me about being a contributor to global warming, my gun being worse for the environment than a diesel truck. Not sure if they were kidding or not so I decided not to kill them. Happy New Year!
I put a mule hide wrap on the handle of my new wooden range box. Had some old mule hide saddle horn wrap in the shed, just repurposed it.
