Any of y’all out there had any success with a home-built shot maker? I was looking at the Oasis shot machine and it doesn’t look all that complicated. Looks just like a angled pan that drains lead through bolts with select sized holes in them. All that sets above a hot plate of sorts. Am I missing something here? Don’t understand why it’s north of $400 for the setup.

Little more complicated than that if you are looking at the one with an adjustable rheostat and temp gauge that lets you program a certain range of temps. I have two. One basic model and the other one is programmable. What are you wanting to drop?

I reckon I’d use #5, but I’d want the option to change it out for a lighter bird shot if I wanted. Does the temperature and pressure from weight in the hopper come into play?

Yes. Too hot and the shot will run out like a water hose. Too cold and it drips sporadically. Dropping shot is not the same thing as running ball. Also your type of coolant has a lot of impact on the shot too. PM if you have more questions. I have been dropping shot for about 12 years now. There are a lot of angles that have to be covered.
