Black powder for shotguns

I shoot a 20 ga. Pedersoli at SD pheasants. I am about out of Goex FF. I have some Goex FFF and some Goex Cartridge. Can I use either of these in my Pedersoli? If so, what is the comparison to 75 gr. FF?

Try the 3f but lower to 65 gr.

If it’s black powder, try it. You may be pleasantly surprised.

I use Goex 3f, 75 grains, in my 20 gage trade gun for my normal load for round ball and shot. You should check your pattern if you switch to either of those other powders and adjust the load as needed for a good pattern. Otherwise, there should be no issues using either of those other 2 powders.

That would be the only thing, reducing so you don’t blow your pattern.... but you may not notice at all.

My "pet" Pedersoli 20 gauge SxS pheasant load is 70 grains of 2Fg, and an ounce of #6 shot. I wouldn't worry if I had to up that to 3Fg.

3f is fine. Cut the charge a bit.

I have contacted GOEX and was told I could load Cartridge grade the same as FF. Hope this helps!
