Hi
New to muzzeloader loading and was wondering if I could get a little advice from the experts. I converted my knight muzzeloader from a cap igniter to a 209 primer, iam currently using Pyrodex rs loose powder, but I wanted to switch to Pyrodex pellets so that is why I changed the ignition system to create a hotter ignition. I am wondering if it is still safe to use loose powder with the 209 primer, in the name of safety thanks

Yes, it's very safe to use 209 primer with loose powder or pellets. There may be a crud ring to deal with due to the hotter primer that will require swabbing after a shot or so.
Like said go to modern muzzleloader you will be welcome there!

Well, he's welcome here too if he just doesn't bring up modern muzzleloaders and what they shoot.

Who knows? Maybe he has an old sidelock stuck away somewhere or he might buy one of them. If he ever does or he just wants to talk about all the other things we talk about on the forum that don't involve modern stuff, he's more than welcome to be here. :)
