I'm an experienced hunter/shooter but I've never fired BP. I recently acquired a civil-war replica. A few questions, if someone with experience wouldn't mind:
It's been suggested to convert to 209 primer because they're more weatherproof especially in extreme cold. True? Pros and cons? Powder to use? Primer to use?
This is a .58 Soave. Do I have to use, "loose," powder? That is, is there any danger or downside too, say, Pyrodex pellets?
Is there a reliable source for Minie ball ammo?
What kind of lube is best?

They go on and on. . . looking for help and am wide open to experienced opinions.

Jim
