Talked with Katherine at Jim Kibler's shop today. Ordered the .54 caliber Colonial kit! Ordered the flat bottom rifling with premium maple wood. Very nice lady and great service. Now just sit and wait 2-3 months.
 
I deplore waiting too, but am recovering from rotator cuff surgery any way so can't do anything for 2-3 months anyway.

Less cost and after much research came to the conclusion that there is now consensus as to the benefit of round bottom, some say its the way some don't. As for cleaning, I probably over clean my guns anyway as I am a little too meticulous some times.
 
You will not be dissatisfied or disappointed on the wait. VERY much worth it.

After building mine, amazing rifle. Check out my detailed thread on building this particular rifle.

My .45 SMR should be ready to ship in a few weeks, went with round bottom rifling as well, worth the extra price.
 
Gentlemen at our age, you don't get to anticipate much anymore, so the rare occasions you get the chance like waiting for this lovely rifle kit will be an opportunity !! Shew us the rifle when you have finished !!
 
Would not trade my round bottom girl for anything.
Just cleans that much quicker, depending how deep your grooves are. Button rifling it does not matter.
