I plan on possibly buying these two later today.

I haven't seen them in person yet, I have only seen this attached photo.

I can ID the pistol as a CVA but could use help with the rifle. Current Owner (it was relatives guns) thinks it might be a CVA.

When I look at pictures of CVA Hawkens type rifles on the web, I haven't seen any that match this ones patch box.

Any ideas as to rifles ID? Does $300-$350 for the pair sound decent?

Thanks

After looking on the web more I think it may be from Cabela's.

Now need to find out who makes them for Cabela's, if my guess is right.

I have a 35 yr old CVA and the patch box is similar.
Not exact but close.
Most of the CVA's (not all) had two barrel wedges.
But I don't remember them having the heavy deep engraving on the lock plate.

Lyman is currently using Investarms as their barrel maker.
Some T/C did too ( I have one) how it came to be no idea.
And IIRC Cabelas is also using Investarms for theirs also.
Guess you'll have a better idea when you look in person.

By the way my CVA has no makers name on the barrel.
Just Connecticut Valley Arms and Black Powder Only and a serial number

That's an Investarms.
Decent rifles, 1 in 48 barrel, usually good locks and nicely finished.

300 for the pair is fare, 350 if you like the guy.
Be sure to check bore condition, a bore light or a $2 fishing bobber light works good,, you can drop it down the bore an see what it looks like

Well necchi, we split the difference ...$325 for the works.

I very happy with the deal.

RJ and Brokenlaig, you were right on the make

Thanks to all who gave advice!

A Investarms .50cal Hawken Rifle and a CVA .50.cal Hawken Pistol.

He also included all the extras which I think have to be close to $100 or so.

Unopened lb of Pyrodex, Pedroselli powder flask,
+ patches, nipple wrench, primers assorted jags etc,.... well I guess you can see the rest.

The pistol almost looks like a laminate stock???

You're gonna be happy with your new .50 cal rifle. I bought a .50 cal Investarms/Cabelas just like it last year from the Classified Ads here at the Muzzleloading Forum. It's a great shooter. 50 gr. Pyrodex gives me the best target accuracy.

Did not think cva sold pistols with laminate stocks. Traditions did sell such pistols. Both the cva and traditions pistols like that came from the same Spanish factory.

 Toothpick, FYI, Green Mtn IBS barrels will fit the Investarms stocks, may have to shorten the under rib. Thought you'd like to know should one come your way.
