I cant wait either! We're going to rejoin that Sherwood park range. I was a member of the SPFG range from 2006 to 2011. Life took a turn, and hadn't been back since I left the BP hobby. Now my whole family are "chomping at the bit" to get into this again.

There were a number of issues with the BP group that ran the Spring shoot and management. Nothing was resolved and most of the active members left to shoot BP at other surrounding ranges (eg. Camrose, Tofield & Smoky Lake) but there are a few shooters still there. But they just shoot there with their smokepoles and lay low. The trail has some improvements but the shooting lanes to the targets are grown over and the gongs are in need of maintenance.

It's great to hear about your excitement for rejoining the Sherwood Park range! It seems like a lot has changed since your earlier days there. Sometimes life takes unexpected turns, but it's wonderful that you and your family are eager to get back into it.

It's a bit disappointing to hear about the issues with the BP group and the state of the shooting lanes, but hopefully, those can be addressed over time. Shooting with smokepoles can be a unique experience. If you ever decide to explore some fun theme parks alongside your shooting adventures, there are some fantastic ones to visit in the United States. They offer a different kind of excitement, and you might enjoy the change of pace.

Hopefully I'll be joining up out there once I get my Colonial put together :) Maybe we can collectively get the trail back up and running.

i may not go out there anymore
it seems that i have to take the course and pass the tests before i can rejoin the gun club.
and now its $210
all i shoot is BP
that is probably not going to happen.

It’s about the same situation with a bunch of us: some joined Camrose, some joined Tofield and I joined Algonquin Shooting Sports out at Smoky Lake. Management over a the Sh.Pk. Range ideas differed from ours and most of us BP shooters left.

My wife and I would need to travel from Bruderheim to the range.. I'm thinking that the travel alone makes the membership prohibitive especially with the cost of a liter of gas. If I've got to take a damn course and pay 210 a year for the odd time I travel to the range, well, it's not worth the cost to us, and I understand it's 210 per member? I can shoot on our neighbours property for free and use my own damn targets...So, now that I've been filled in, we wont bother joining either.

I’d do the same but I have pistols and in order to take them to shoots I need to belong to some range (damn Canadian Laws!). I joined the Smoky Lake Club/Range. It’s a little cheaper and no course/entry requirements. I just saw Tassi a few minutes ago at a meeting. He’s a life member at Sh.Pk. but his legs are bothering him.

i left a message on his phone but i will try and call him again tomorrow. maybe go over and see him.

that trail at S P is a good trail. i wonder how many actually use it now.

He should be around. The weather is crappy. We were supposed to go “ pensioning off” some gophers whenever the weather improved; with flinters. Quality not quantity.
Hehehe...I used to do that for a neighbour near the local nudist colony. They didn't like the .22cal plinkers, so I used to haul out my .45cal Hawken style.

I don't think I'll have same "plinkability" with the Colonial I'm working on, but I think it'll still collect a few tails ;)

well folks. i just spent 3 hours on the sherwood park gun club site. read through all the courses, and took the test 6 times. flunked every one and then got locked out.
i am too old for this manure.
i am so stupid for even going through that.

tassi said that club is thinking of putting on a shoot. i most likely wont be going if they do.
