The grip cap is two pieces of solid steel that fit together with two studs...

With my .54 Kentucky for a size comparison...

I ordered this one from Cherry's a week ago. They had five left after I ordered mine. I don't know how many they have left now, give them a call. Dixie also sells them, but they're on back order. You can probably find some other dealers by googling 'pedersoli howdah pistol'.

Here's another camparison shot I did just for fun. What I carry today vs. what I would have carried in an earlier time...

See and you all thought I was :youcrazy: CRAZY when I first started talking about these back in June of last year. It's a beauty of a piece! I just wish I could afford one!
I understand they made a few kits but none ever made it too the states. At least Dixie didn't know anything about them when I inquired!

:v Hey Jumpshot---you are certainly an excellent photographer don't kick yourself---let us do it :rotf: . Nice pix and a real hooplah of a gun. ought to make people stand up and say whazzzat????

What did you get, the .50 or the 20 gauge? How does it balance?
Most importantly, how does it shoot?
Please, please, please, give us a range report asap! It has been a long time since I've wanted a gun as bad as I want one like this.
And I didn't even know it until about 5 minutes ago!

:shocked2: OOOOOOO....aaaahhhh!
I really like the warthog on the right lock

Makes your Glock look like a pea shooter! Please let us know how it shoots

If this were in flint...THEN, I would have to have one! :blah: :applause:

It's a double 20-gauge. It's a heavy gun, but the checkering provides a firm grip. The first time I saw one in the flesh was yesterday when I opened the box, so I can't compare it to the other versions. But I think it was Christiaan in South Africa who said the double 20 version is the best balanced of the three, so I'll have to take his word for it. Despite being muzzle heavy and requiring a strong grip, it's not difficult to maintain your grip.

Very hefty boomstick.

:thumbsup:I agree! The photos are great!

If 2 shots won't do the job, it will make a heckuva bludgeon!
It will be interesting to see how it does with roundballs and buckshot, not necessarily in the same load,as the recoil might be a little unpleasant. What charges are practical, and safe, for it?

Dunno, this is my first smoothbore pistol. The manual doesn't list any recommended loads, but I wasn't expecting any useful info there anyway. Manufacturers have future litigation to think about. But I know they build stout guns. I've gotten good accuracy out of my .45 Pennsylvania with 90 grains of 3F.

Anyway, I have to order a bunch of balls, patches, and wads this week before I can shoot it, as I dont have any supplies for this caliber/gauge. I plan to try both ball and shot. I'll probably start with 30 grains of 2F and work up from there.
