    Static and BP

I was thinking there was a sticky on this showing static electricity and BP. Did I miss the sticky some place? Or where can I find it. It shows BP being bombarded by static electricity but it does not ignite the powder.

    dove hunting/eating

I know this really should be under recipes, I really just want people to see and post to this topic. What is the best recipe for doves that you enjoy. Maybe it is a marinade, a jerky or fried, but what ever it is, please tell us. Dove hunting rates at one of my most favorite thing to do with a...

    TV show Mountain Men

Anyone see it last night? Ustiss (SP) and buddy were going after squirrels with small bore perc. guns. His gun appeared to me to be a Crockett and his buddies was a full stock. Both guns perc. They were saying that he needed to save more money to pay off his debt, so that is why they were using...

    Aren't Ticks wonderful?

Out the past 2 days for a little turkey hunting, but for walks and mushrooms. The ticks are terrible! I know it is the best time of year to be a tick, but there sure is enough of them not to be lonely. There is not as many in the outdoors as there was about 3 days ago though.

    Buying in Bulk?

I hope this is not hi jacking, but I have heard in the past about buying powder in bulk. I have never seen it sold that way, unless you are meaning by the case. But, I have heard of people buying it in a paper sack or something similar. Who and where can you buy it like that?

    Tresspass Laws--everywhere

It is up to you to know the laws of the state or providence in which you are hunting. In Ohio, it is NOT legal to go on to any ground, that is privately owned, without written permission. It doesn't matter that you wounded game, you are in violation of trespassing, if you do not have that...

    DOM, Forged or Damascus barrels

The DOM barrel thread, just got me to thinking about all barrels. If you feel safe enough with them, I guess go ahead. As for myself. I shoot allot of shotguns, both cartridge and muzzleloader and most of them are Damascus or at least a composite barrel material, like laminated or Twist. I am...

    Where are the DOVES?

I have been to every type of field I can think of. I have placed elevated decoys to try to lure them in, but you can't lure what isn't there. In mid August, we had a flight of doves come through and they were everywhere. By now the doves are probably looking for Roundball to shoot at them. Ohio...

    20 ga. SxS

Some have asked for me to post pictures when I finished rescuing this 20ga. It has Belgium marked barrels, but to me, the furniture appears to be French. There really are no other marks. It is refurbished, with new locks welded up and made to fit the original lock mortice. The broken stock was...

    To go with Robins, OPPS

Robins post, brought back memories of my 1st trip into SxS flinters. Like I mentioned it was my first day with one and I was alone at the trap range. I was having a terrible time getting the left lock to ignite the charge. So after several "klatches" I took my trigger finger across the flints...

    In Ohio

I would sure like to see the state change the months of the deer season. Where we checked in Matt's deer on Sunday, 1/2 of the deer were bucks that had shed their horns. To me, that is bad buisness to take away what some hunters come from out of state to hunt. The state is killing off their...

    Son in-laws first

Matt left active duty from the Marines' this past June. He wanted to take up hunting, so I just happened to have an extra gun, a 50cal. CVA Mountain perc. gun he could have. He spent many times with me at the bench and just plain plinking, so we went hunting the past 2 days. My goal was to "get...

    Dec.19, 2009

I was sitting on the ground for the day. I observed many different deer through out the day but I was holding out. There is a lot of season left to bowhunt as well as muzzleloader season in Jan. My need to able to hunt exceeds my need to fill a tag. This buck at 2:30pm, stepped out of a woods...

    My first Turkey

I finally was able to get out and hunt this week. After never having hunted turkey before, I gave it a good try. I heard birds from the time I got there, until this happened at 10:15. I had to bring him in from nearly 1/2 mile away and I watched him come virtually the whole way, as he responded...

    Stock Stripping

I have redone many stocks, but this CVA Mountain is a test. I prefer to chemically strip my stocks, so that sanding does not alter the shape in any fashion. But, I have used my old stand stripper by Zip Strip and then Klean Strip and the stock looks horrible. It is splotchy and no matter how I...

    CVA, Traditions, etc.

Rat trapper, you mentioned in another post about the problems you saw with the guns that are in the subject line. I am just curious, what problems did you see? Were they repeat problems and how did the company respond to these problems. I of course always hear good things about T/C service, but...

    Ohio may be changing

At a recent gun club meeting, the game warden came as usual to keep us updated on the past, present and future changes in the laws. He informed us that it is not law yet, but the state wants to change our Ml'er season to Jan.9-12, in 2009. I think it is a shame, to not be able to Ml'er hunt...

    'splain CVA lock to me

Looking at this CVA Mountain rifle and the lock inside has a screw on the tumbler. I have not touched this screw, but is it for adjusting the trigger angle?
