What size wad are used in a 44 cal revolver
I think mine are .460 diameter for my 44 and 45 cal guns. I purposely make them over size to seal the chamber as the hemisphere of the ball presses them into the powder under neath when seating.
It must be remembered that when the fire starts from the cap the front of the powder column under the wad does not burn until the ball and wad are well up the barrel past the gap and forcing cone, by this time the lead ball itself is sealing the bore and the wad is lubing and sweeping the bore fouling from the previous shot.
