For those of you who use a filler, where do you put it? I'm fairly new to revolvers and have shot my Pietta 44 enough to know my best groups are accomp!I she'd with 15 - 18 grains of 3F under a .454 ball with a lined felt wad on top. Groups are the size of z 50 cent piece at 21 yards. But I feel like it could do better. I'm not interested in power so much, but just accuracy, because I like to carry it for those opportunities to take small game, or edible creatures I don't want to blow up with my rifle.
However, the distance between that wad and the cylinder seems way too far. A filler would Bri g the load closer. But where to put it? Over the powder or over the ball?

For targets I put 20 grains of cream of wheat over 18-20 grains of 3F in all my 44 revolvers. Brings the ball fairly close to the chamber mouth once seated. I have a separate flask filled with cream of wheat just for this purpose.

Exactly!!
A nice thing to say. I reckon I should have said those groups were from the bench with sandbags. I'm actually looking for those itty bitty groups I used to get many moons ago when I had a ROA. Dumbest thing I ever did was letting that go. That was about 1995.
