Alright yall I found something I need but I don't know enough about it to spend the money. does any one know when it was made? Or if its worth anything? also first time posting pictures so forgive me if it doesn't work.
Here's what got me never seen a side plate like this on a northwest before

The first impression is an import of mediocre quality (from the 70's?) and that the side plate is a simple one to keep costs down. I don't ever remember seeing a trade gun like that in the flesh or in an ad over the years. Hey, if it sparks go for it.

There are some things that bother me about this gun. It just has the "look" if you know what I mean. To me the workmanship looks too good to be a 70s import. If so it was a higher end replica.

The stock work looks very good but then again not too good. It looks like it might be a custom or semi-custom. Could it be a early NorthStar West? Laffindog (Matt) here on the forum may be able to give you some info on it.

Lastly it's unlike any replica or kit I have seen or have personal knowledge of. Without further adieu, I think it might be an original. It has proofs, it looks like it has a vent liner (percussion conversion ?) and some elements of the lock look newer. It could be a late early 20th Century NW Trade Gun converted.

It's possible it's a Belgian African gun (available in the 1960s-70s) but honestly it looks too good for that IMHO.

I don't think it's a low quality gun, or replica.
Probably original to the late 1800's. Don't think it is a late 1700's or early 1800's gun, partly because none of the screw heads are buggered up. Just looking at the few pictures furnished ( no full length or buttstock views ), it does not show much use.
I just don't know how late these guns were made for the Canadian Indian hunter / trapper trade. I am sure several forum members here have specific info as to dates of manufacture of the Barnett locks.

Proofs look good...It may be a legit original. Need more pics.

I think that it is a late trade gun, but not made for sale in North America.

Thank yall for the help I'm gonna get it the price is right for my first flintlock and smooth bore.

I wish we could see more of the stock. I'm wondering if it might be a "Long Dane" gun, made for the African trade. They looked very much like NW guns, and were often made by the same gunmakers, but with some differences.

"Could it be a early NorthStar West? "

not a chance

looks like something Turner Kirkland would have put together about 1970.

you should contact the mussuem of the fur trade in Nebraska. they have one of the largest collections.
