Yes, I cut off the ugly finger hook. I bedded the barrel tang, breech end & trigger plate, replaced the plastic sights with Hawken style sights & replaced the fiberglass rammer with a hickory one.
Plastic sights, fiberglass ramrod on a muzzleloader? Blasphemy, pure blasphemy! Glad you chose common sense!
 
That is by far and away the best-looking rifle of its type that I have ever seen. I think you have set the benchmark for assembly of this type of kit.

The engraving on the cap box is a very nice addition.
