A year ago this weekend I made like a bandit on a bunch of goodies at a local show. Today was no different.

1 seller had a Deerstalker for $200. Had no interest in it. But I did find a DGW flintlock hiding. Only $30. Snatched it fast fast.

Another seller had a immaculate Lyman Trade Rifle .54Cal. For $300 out the door. I had no light to check the bore as I forgot it at home. I passed on it.

But on other side of his table he had a CVA Kentucky Pistol Kit in .45. Looked complete. He said make an offer.. I replied with "Im afraid if I say it you might reach over the table and slap me". I offered $100 and he said take it. I ran to the ATM in the hallway like my.life depended on it. Only to take notice when I got home someone started it. Not too bad though. And its missing the ramrod. Bummer.

But to walk away from a show with a DGW flint lock and a Kentucky kit in original box for under $150. Ill say thats a win. Especially since our club is planning on having a pistol shoot this year.

They are nice locks but need polishing and tuning. I don't know the model but I recently had Brad Emig at Cabin Creek tune one up for me. Great little lock.

Little local sportsman's club shows are a never miss. The big 500+ table shows? Never again. Don't care for beef jerky. Don't care for raggedy badly written used books and magazines. Don't care for guys that cannot talk intelligently about the guns and other wares they are selling. Don't care for the drive there. Don't care for the 4th rate food on offer.

I really miss the days of the gun shows at the old JC Penney's building where it was mostly regular guys swapping and horse trading, I always saw some interesting stuff there.
