Found a Spanish antique dealer that shows a 1789 Spanish Officer's carbine with a barrel inscription of "Prince’s Own Cavalry Regiment". This carbine has a nice miquelet lock that is the same as The Rifle Shoppe's number 647 lock. What is nice about this dealer's site is that there are photos from above & oblique views that are rarely shown on dealers sites. 3 photos show the barrel tang carving which is great. The only squawk on the carbine is that it is missing the middle barrel band. Anyway, here's the link: http://nova.armasantiguas.com/espadas_y_sables/item/694-r-306d3.html

Then I found another 1789 carbine from the same dealer that is no longer listed here: http://nova.armasantiguas.com/espadas_y_sables/item/544-r-f14fco.html

These 2 carbines are similar to this carbine that Ricky posted in 2011, but these barrels are 36.4 inches long: http://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/258141/post/1001691/hl//fromsearch/1/

I posted these links because photos of Spanish military miquelets are very rare. There are also some decent dimensions listed of the barrel length and the overall length of the carbine.

Copy the photos when you find them, because they may be gone when you return months later!

Have a good holiday weekend, Mike

Those are great carbines...thanks for sharing with us. It's so hard to find good quality pictures without knowing the Spanish terminology any better.

Thanks so much for Posting!! Great photos too. I'll save those in my library. Yes, it's often difficult to find good photos and descriptions of Spanish long arms. Thanks again.

Gosh. Has it been three years already since I posted that carbine? Don't know where the time has gone. That gun has a very strange story attached to it if anyone interested. :haha: Rick. :hatsoff:
