Thought I would get started on a new horn for my next gun build. Cheaper than building the gun for now.

Interesting working with bison horn. Gave it an apple base with tru oil finish. It is intended to go with a fullstock cherry wood plains rifle. I'll build that part in the dead of winter this year. Should make a nice set.
 
I have a horn in the garage that is almost that rough. I have hesitated to start on it, but your results give me hope of some positive results, but I doubt mine will be close to yours. Great job.
