I have this drinking horn here, and I have been thinking about doing some scrimshaw on it. I have never done that before, and was wondering if this would be an ok horn to do it on. I have sanded the horn down and polished it smooth. By the way, it holds two .750ml bottles of wine.

You want to beeswax or brewers pitch the inside good so you don't get "funkywinetaste" If the surface does not have any flaking or delamination, you should have no problem with scrimshaw.
