Needle files certainly do vary in quality. The Grobet are best in my experience. I've used some Nicholson ones, and they've been a bit of a disappointment.

For those of you who are used to using a coping saw, these blades are about 50 times more durable than jeweler's blades. I use them for about 90% of my metal cutting and only use the jewelers blades for the real tight curves. Saves a ton of frustration.

I haven't used them for cutting screw slots, but they should work fine, and the set could be ground off for a thinner line.

Hi,
Grobet and Friedrich Dick are the best in my experience. They cost about the same. With Dick files you also have the chance to say "pass me my Dick file" which sometimes raises eyebrows among friends.

good screw slot files will cost you $20.00to $30.00 apiece from Brownels. they work great but break easy.
