Just threw some money at my lgs to hold a rifle for me until after the weekend.

It looks a lot like this, except all the metal is in the white - never finished.

There are no markings on it anywhere, save for two places. One is the underside of the .54 caliber barrel which is marked "Sharon Rifle Barrel Co." This I saw with my own eyes.

The lgs owner says the inside of the lock is marked either D&L or DNL. I didn't see this, and I couldn't get clear which he was saying.

Does anyone know about a D&L/DNL lock?

Many years a ago Sharon offered rifles in different stages of build. I had a Half Stock Hawken in .54 cal percussion and a Full Stock Hawken in .62cal percussion. Id say you have snagged a nice Rifle !

I've had one rifle with a Sharron barrel, a .54 fullstock flint Hawken. 'Twas one I should have kept. At fifty yards off a rest it would shoot cloverleaf groups all day long. It was the only rifle I ever owned that I could do that with. And I've owned a lot of rifles over the years.
I currently have, but have yet to shoot, a halfstock Ohio style rifle that I bought largely because it had a Sharron barrel.
As has already been said, you didn't get a good deal, you got a steal.

Holy kitty manure!!!! Grab your billfold, grab your checkbook, grab whatever it takes and buy that rifle NOW!!! That is the best deal I have heard of in a long time. The barrel alone is worth more than $150. You lucky duck!!! What a find.

Yeah I second jumping on that deal/steal!

Buy a lottery ticket also! Your one lucky dude!

locks are 100bucks alone....and the barrels, parts etc~ oh yeah, it dropped into your lap....it was karma day for you!
post pics and targets when you can.... :hatsoff:

I bought a Sharon .63many seasons ago. Already had a Great Plains .50.

The Sharon was very accurate and aside from being a heavy bruiser, was an excellent rifle in every respect.

Sold the Sharon for considerably more than I paid for it and have been kicking myself ever since.
