You shouldn't have to scrub the heck out of your gun just because you use Pyrodex.

Cleaning a muzzleloader is not rocket science, not even close. i've never a problem with the bore rusting.
The bores of many muzzleloader guns are badly pitted and rusted. They are going to stay pitted and will rust more easily. You can use steel wool, Scotch Brite or other stuff to clean up the bore: The bore will still be very prone to rust.
Watch what you buy on the internet. i've returned several roached barrels to sellers who lied about their condition.
IMO: Anyone who spends more than 20-25 minutes cleaning a muzzleloader gun is fondling the thing. :grin:
