I'm doing a final cleaning using Clenzoil followed by oiling it with Ballistol. I have a couple of friends that turned me on to Clenzoil. One friend cleaned his rifle with with Clenzoil and put it up for 25 years. Brought it to the range, ran a dry patch down it, the only thing on the patch was the yellow color of Clenzoil.

You shot it and cleaned it up. What kind of protestant should be used in the bore?

Through 40+ years of using WD40 as a bore lube, I cannot recall experiencing rust in my muzzleloaders(or unmentionables) even when stored for extended periods. An added bonus, when wiped well with a clean patch(s) before shooting, I have had good results with first shot accuracy using this product. Of late, I have had comparable results with Barricade which doubles as a good lube/rust protection for the lock-works.

“Thou heretic!!!!! I sentence ye to be place in a barrel there to be employed keeping said barrel free of rust tilst that day the owner chooses to burn you with the fire of powder until thou art dead dead dead. May the lord hath mercy on thy soul
