A little 100 grain priming horn with pewter ends. Horn is hot glued to a chunk of wood. That way I can clamp the wood into my ball vise and get it level. Note the undercut inside the horn, that holds the pewter in place. Filled with casting clay just below the undercut. Spout end has an insert that is drilled and taped for the actual spout, that way I can screw it out to fill the horn. I used a 2" bolt to hold the insert in place and packed casting clay around it. When it cooled off I screw the bolt out. Fun part was getting all the clay out.

I've never seen anything like that. Did you just invent pewter caps on a horn or was this something you've seen before? Regardless I really like it.

I've never cast anything, please excuse my ignorance. Would it be possible to make a clay receptacle, pour the molten pewter into it then dip the horn into it? That way you wouldn't have to dig out the clay through the little insert. I'm sure if it could be done that way you would have, I guess I'm asking why my idea is silly.

Tried my luck at it and it worked. It's like knifes with pewter end caps. Ball starter and powder measure. I call it experiments.
