I have a 50 cal percussion renegade and would like to know if it is feasible to convert it to flintlock and what would be involved if possible.

There's probably three ways to convert the T/C Renegade from percussion to flint. Most methods are involved and two methods require machining or special tooling.

1. The easiest way is to acquire a T/C flint lock breeched barrel and an L&R RPL T/C lock and make the small inletting in the stock for the flint lock.

These ways will make it very difficult to change between using the rifle as flint lock ignition or reverting back to a percussion lock.

2. This method requires a T/C Breech plug fitting to remove the percussion breech. A T/C flint breech will need to be purchased with the correct T/C threads and hook to match the receptacle in the tang. The new breech will have to be fit to the barrel to properly align the flats and sights to the touch hole and properly bottom out in the threads in the barrel. The L&R RPL T/C lock will need to be purchased and inlet in the stock.

3. The percussion snail (nipple seat) is ground off flat. A touch hole liner will have to be installed that mates to the existing flash channel in the T/C breech. The L&R RPL T/C or a T/C flint lock will need to be purchased and installed in the stock.

In most cases, it may prove easier and perhaps cheaper to find a T/C Hawken or Renegade in flint and then you have two rifles.
