I can see that with all that stuff on top of your powder you undoubtedly have a nice seal.
It does seem like a lot of bother when a little tighter fitting shooting patch would eliminate the need for the card and certainly the greased felt wad..

What kind of groups did you get shooting bench rest at 50 yards?

Just trying to fiquer out flickr. Shot my bore rifle today, with 4 1/2 drams of Fg with card and greased hard felt wad over powder. first and third shots low, did not weigh the balls, will do so in future. Last shot loaded as easily as the first. Rifle is surprisingly pleasant to use with this hefty charge, guess it would be a much different story with conicals !! P1020775 by Gordon Hazel, on Flickr
