Yep. That's about it. I've been looking to see if there are any replicas out there now with that designation, but I ain't seen anything. Maybe somebody finally figured it out. Maybe I'm nuts, but I'm sure I saw some years ago.

Here's what it says in "A History of the Colt Revolver" by Haven & Belden, 1940. This book is full of information and photos, including correspondence and patents. They show the Whitneyville Walker as the "Model of 1847 Army Pistol". The Model of 1848 Holster Pistol or Number 1 Dragoon is called both the "Improved Holster Pistol" and the "Old Model Holster Pistol". A fluted Number 1 Dragoon is listed simply as an "Old Model Holster Pistol". The Number 2 Dragoon or Model 1849 Dragoon is called the "Improved Holster Pistol" and the "Old Model Army Pistol", as was the Number 3 Dragoon. Confused yet?

Suffice it to say that ALL of the .44 caliber Army Colts prior to the 1860 were either the Walker or one of the models of the Dragoon.

The book "*C*O*L*T AN AMERICAN LEGEND" by R.L.Wilson shows one experimental Colt 1851 on page 56 pistol that was made with a .40 caliber cylinder and barrel. According to the author, 3 of these were made with different length barrels.

All other original Colt 1851 C&B pistols were .36 caliber only.
