I purchased one of the inexpensive India made Brown Bess mostly as a wall hanger but when I received it I found the lock was something of very poor working quality. I just could not live with it so I started to examine it and said to myself - I need to fix as much as I could to get the lock to work better than it is now. I put in about 30 hours to make some new parts and this is what I finally ended up with. The lock works 10 times better than it originally did.

This is something I just could not live with. I would not choose one of these guns if I was serious in shooting a Brown Bess. As I said I have about 30 hours in the lock and if I charge $50/hr then you are looking at $1500 for this work. At that price I could buy a Pedersoli Brown Bess.
I saw your work in the post "Fixing Locks" and thought it was very good info. :thumb:;)
