That's way overkill. I use one teaspoon of baking soda in a yogurt container which is 6 ounces of water. I scrub it into the barrel and other parts with a course rag like denim or a clean shop rag. Rinse, dry, and oil heavily overnight then wipe off excess oil in the morning. Works every time.

Soda ash like from a Culligan water treatment store will work far better than baking soda if you can get it.
