I thought they did a better job of representing the people and the lifestyle than many of the more current offerings. Anything that stirs peoples interest in the blackpowder sports is a positive, in my view. Perfect, no, but I enjoyed watching their rendition of the clothing, tools, and weapons, even if not totally correct. I also am a fan of a couple of the guys who made some of the props for the movie. Matt at ML Knives for one.
Also, I picked this canteen up at an estate sale for a song, compared to what new ones sell for. Saw this on Townsends website, and just assumed it was accurate;
"Kidney shaped style documentable from French and Indian War period. Also good for Revolutionary War. 8" high including spout, 5" wide. Holds about 1 quart. Made of tin-lined copper. Cord strap and stopper included, but may vary from what is pictured."
I use it while hunting, so won't hurt me if it isn't accurate, but would be interested if someone can set me straight on that.
I agree, from what I have read, many liberties were taken with the story.
Anyhow, I appreciate all the opinions.
