My 54 bore has a pimple in the groove!

I am guessing when the factory tapped the adjustable sight attachment screw hole in the barrel, they did not get all of the swarf out and pushed a bulge into the rifling with the bottoming tap. The small bulge sits right in a groove. Is there a way to smooth that spot out without risking damage to the otherwise really nice bore? PS, Size wise it is like you placed a bit under half of a BB in the groove.

I would seek out a Hoyt type to swage it back out. It would not cost much
and would perfect the bore.

If the bit was that close to coming through, removing the 'pimple' might leave you with an unwanted vent in your barrel.

I would contact the manufacturer and request a new barrel.

Crow-Feather is spot on! Send the barrel back and insist on a new one, preferably with NO screw hole for the rear sight.
