Absolutely gorgeous Model 1861 58cal Savage Contract “Cadet” rifle. This was a full size model 1861 shortened 8” for Military school use for younger boys. This unique piece has all the same functions as it’s full size counterpart like the ability to accept a socket bayonet. Lock and barrel dated 1863 N.J. state marked on both the stock and barrel. Bore is in mint condition, even the bluing is still present on the percussion nipple! Stunning and hard to upgrade example and quite a handle rifle! $1500 or trades PM me for further information and or pictures.
