I just bought a very little used 36 cal. flint,34 in. barrel ,with J.p. McCoy on the top flat. who made it? it kinda looks like a Hatfield, no numbers ,or markings anywhere else. the touchhole is way too small, and had to shim up the triggers ,on the way to the back-forty to run some more high-tech testing. Merry Christmas to All!

Sounds like a J.P. McCoy to me, but I thought the barrel was a tad longer. If it has the barrel retained by screws up thru the RR pipes, then it was made by J.P Gunstocks. They are no longer in business. I had a Hatfield & a McCoy, both I had were good shooters, & had Orion barrels. They also had the only L&R locks I ever had that were good, consistent, and required no new parts to make them work. :shocked2: That will make ya a real nice lil squirrel rifle. Very accurate lil rifle too.

Can't be a Hatfield. The Hatfields been feudin' with the McCoys for years. :haha:

Sounds like it could be a Jim Searles gun. Screws thru the RR Pipes would be the giveaway. JP Gunstocks are long gone, but they built some pretty nice guns on occassion.
