I’ve heard that the woods runner is the easiest. What makes it easier than the colonial?
 
There is a difference in the amount of skill and effort that goes into the different "kits". From the old TC and CVA to Kiblers to TOTW and such to stocking the gun parts from a plank to forging the barrel and locks from raw materials. Call it what you will but hopefully no one is suggesting that all the above deserve the same respect. I think that's the burr under some builders saddle. Not that anyone has explicitly made that statement it kinda comes across that way in the forums. The written word is a tricky thing, often twisted in our minds to match what we are thinking about.

I've built from a plank. But I want to buy a couple of Kiblers offerings. I think they are a tremendous value. I plan to gift them to a couple of people that are getting into the sport. I'm sure they'll be more perfect than the first rifle I stocked from a plank but won't have the same value to me.
