What is the procedure for inletting butt caps with extensions running up the sides of the butt as in continental guns? Fit to the butt first and then do the extensions or try and do it all at once. I know there was an article on this topic some where but I have lost it.

Hi,
Bend the spurs outward so they don't contact the wood. Inlet the cap, and then push the spurs in to outline them and inlet.
