I recently acquired a ML pistol for which I would like any info. It looks like a cross between a Knetucky and Hawken style. It is a caplock, single trigger, pin front sight, no rear sight. It is of .50 cal, 8" bbl, 1" across the flats. It has a snail for the nipple, but it is not hooked breach. The bbl is blued the rest of the furniture is "browned" a deep bronze, with a brass hawken style nose cap and a wide trigger guard. The only writing is "50 MOWREY OLNEY TEXAS" and the S/N number 2XXX. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Does it look like one of these?

This might help too...

Actually it is a combination of the two. The grip and nose cap is like the top picture, except the grip is shorter, flat bottemed, no checkering. It has the trigger and full length stock of a Kentucky, but no thimbles. The lock is plain, with no engraving. Possibly someone bought the bbl. from Mowery and built the pistol from scratch. I will call Mowery at the number you listed. Thanks.

I called the phone number above, got a "no longer in service" message. I'll do some internet searching.
