Here is another great rifle! I bought this a while back and have shot and enjoyed it but as is usual something else has grabbed my attention. This time I’m having a JP Gemmer needle gun built, so this must go. The specs are as follows.

This was built by the late David Dodds who is considered one of the great contemporary builders. David was famous for Reading rifles but I will say he built a dang fine hawken!

Barrel is 35” long including the hooked breach.
Straight hooked breach can’t find makers name on barrel. Straight profile barrel.
.54 cal shoots quite well with a .530 and .018 patch and 75gr 3f.
Ron long Denver lock and triggers. This is when Ron was building them himself before RE Davis. The stock is a stunning piece of maple with a perfectly inlaid butterfly on the cheek piece. Butt plate is a two piece that was braised together. Early style flat to wrist trigger guard. Hawken style leaf sight. The gun weighs 9lbs 6oz on my scale. LOP to front trigger is 13.5” to center of butt plate. Very small repair noted on the small piers of wood on the top of the lock just foreword of the frizzen. Almost invisible but must be noted. This gun has it all! The builder, the parts, the quality, the looks and lastly the COOL factor! I will sorely miss this rifle and I have talked my self out of posting it for the last month, but alas she must go! Please let me know if you have any questions at all! I’m asking 1800 obo shipped and insured. PayPal F&F is the best for me.

PS bag does not go with it!

I love the gold butterfly on the cheekpiece!
There appears to be a bit of cast-off with the stock, where, at the wrist, the stock bends slightly to the right, and the barrel is brought more in-line with your right eye.
If there is cast-off, it should be mentioned, because that is desirable to some folks. :thumb:
