Me and my big mouth..."Sure I can help you out."

Of course the problem is a missing buttplate off a CVA rifle. Yep, I found one. Now I have to fit it. Of course, the worst thing in rifle building is a buttplate, one of the worst buttplates is a CVA, and the worst gunwood in the world is CVA.

Finish fitting, tighten screws and POP!!! 2 inches of the toe is now bouncing across the shop.
:shocked2:
OK...pity party is over. Time for some glue.

Yup, time for some glue.......... right after pitching a 2 pound hammer through the shop window to vent a little frustration. :rotf:
I had my underhammer rifle fall over one day in the shop because of a moment of inattentiveness and broke it right off length wise at an angle through the wrist and checkered panel, Weren't no fixing that so had to make a new one. Most depressing! MD

Not to worry! If you lost no wood when the piece broke off, you can carefully glue it back on and the repair will be invisable. I had a forestock on my H&A underhammer Buggy Rifle blow off when an illfitting nipple blew out. It was split lengthwise along grain lines and absolutely no wood was lost. I just carefully glued it back together and the repair is invisable.

As Billnpatti said, reglue it carefully lining up the break and you should be ok. I would recommend a good two part epoxy like Devcon Steel Putty.
