Merry Christmas to all first.

Image shows tang on my purchased 1971 TC Hawken 50 cal. Santa was nice to me this Xmas and left me a new FP-Hawken Williams Peep site. Good so far, i'm happy with it. But in attempting to install the peep on the tang you have to remove the middle screw and the wood screw so as to mount the base of the peep sight. It appears that at some point TC has made tangs in a 2 hole version as well as a 3 hole version. Image shows a 3 hole. Mine. Here is the issue. The middle screw is too short to use thru the hole in the peep base. It is some kind of a metal flat head screw. It needs to be longer to work. Now to muddle up the water a little bit the instruction sheet says most hawken screws are 6-48. Well the 6-48 screw they sent with peep has diff treads. Not really a problem, I'm patient, its holiday season I get it, and its Saturday, Dec. 25.

Does anybody know what screw actually fits in the middle hole? It measures .160 dia. But not sure of thread.

Maybe a better idea is to just can the metal screw option, remove the tang and drill a hole below the middle hole and sink a wood screw in there. Any thoughts. Otherwise I will just put the gun back in the gun safe and wait until I can call TC or Williams Sight.
