Hello All,
I recently discovered this forum and have been amazed by the wealth of knowledge here.

I've been into Black Powder off and on since the late 70s, when I bought a CVA mountain rifle and a Navy Arms cap and ball revolver as a teenager in Virginia. Both were great shooters, and I regret now that sold them in the 80s when I got distracted with school and work. I've been a fur trade and Civil War buff my whole life and experimented (unsuccessfully) with a Mississippi Rifle in the 90s, then bought a nice flintlock, a 54 PRB shooter with a Getz barrel, made by Warren Fitzgerald of Covington VA, not deceased. Unfortunately life then got complicated again, though I did kill several whitetails with that gun, but I really haven't shot it enough to come up with a real tack driving recipe. I lived in Utah for a few years in the mid 80s, and always loved the west, so I moved back here in 2004 and now live in eastern Idaho. I love to hunt and wander in the mountains of both ID and WY. I'm now in the process of trying to get a 50 cal Lyman Great Plains Hunter to shoot good so I can use it with a big conical on elk. The gun has been frustrating so far, but I'm getting some help from the guys on the percussion forum. I then want go back to my flinter and get it dialed in.

It's nice to be back into BP again, and I want to stay involved with it this time. Life seems to be going by quickly and I can't believe I'm 53. I made a bunch of braintan back in the 90s and made a shirt and some mocs, and I need to pull it out and make some more things. I look forward to learning from all you like minded folks on this forum. John

Correction, I meant to say that Mr. Fitzgerald is now deceased, for several years I believe.

Hi John, and welcome. You'll have that GPH shooting in no time at all.

Welcome! I have been a forum member a couple years now, but haven't been active lately. My loss, right?

There doesn't seem to be that many of us here in Idaho. I'm up in the panhandle near Potlatch, north of Moscow. I am a history major at the U of I. I seem to have landed on an area of American history for which our department seems to have no specialists! :td: But at least the kids love it and the wife is interested, so after my knee surgery in a couple weeks, I plan to invest more heavily into buckskinning and hit a few rendezvous if I can in the summer breaks.
