Don Stith or Hawken Shop kit? would like to know which one is preferred by the die hard Hawken crowd. Also who would put together a kit foe me and about how much would it cost. Would like to see pics as well of you Hawken rifle from these two outfits.

The Hawken Shop will build the gun for you. It won't be cheap. Just the kit is $1400.

Are you prepared for a heavy gun? The Hawken Shop gun is 10 3/4 lbs.

Call them up.

You should also talk to Don too. He may know builders for his kits.

Sold my Pedersoli 54 rocky mtn and it was just under 10 pounds not a problem on the weight. Looking for something closer to an original Hawken. Thinking about a full stock.

There is a Hawken for sale in the adds. 58 slow twist, a hunting gun.

I am not sure Don is still in business. I did use one of his parts set a couple of years ago. Based on that experience I would try the Hawken Shop if I did another.

Actually, if I could get the metal parts outside of a parts set I would build from a plank. I understand that is not for everyone. Often the precarve stock is a mess and causes more headache than they are worth.
