I wanted to follow up on this topic, since I got so much good advice. I took the Hawken out the last 2 weekends to see how the 1" in 48" shot with roundball. First weekend I think I was trying too many different combinations, did not learn too much. Yesterday I went out and took a shot with 50gr Pyrodex, TC patch and roundball at 13 yds per Mr Fadala, first shot dead center on the bullseye. Moved to 50 yds and tweaked the sights a bit, was getting bench groups of about 2-3". Doubled the charge to 100grs and used pillowtick patch, grouped about the same, just a shade high. I then fired 4 offhand shots into a 3" bull at 50 yds. Figured I best quit while I was ahead. Think I'll play with this some more before buying a new barrel, shot OK by my standards. Thanks again for the advice.

If I were you, I'd hang on to that barrel for sure...those are great results
